Rain Callister

Rain Callister is a Canadian software developer who moved to New Zealand after a vacation inspired by her love of The Lord of the Rings. What was supposed to be a trip became a permanent move when she fell in love with the country itself. Rain is sarcastic, nerdy, confident online, and somewhat more self-conscious in person. She's also entirely human, which makes her surprisingly unusual among some of the people she knows.

Rain is occasionally plus-sized and spent years treating her weight as a problem she was perpetually supposed to be solving. She's become much better at judging herself by how she feels and what she can do rather than how little space she occupies, though old insecurities haven't vanished completely. Gaming, coding, exploring New Zealand, and generally finding interesting things to obsess over occupy considerably more of her attention these days.

She met Bonnie Rabbit after helping improve the website and online presence of Bonnie's family carrot farm. Friendship gradually wandered into romantic territory, although neither woman has always been particularly interested in defining exactly where the boundary lies. They may call themselves friends or girlfriends depending on when they're asked, but the relationship itself is remarkably stable: they're affectionate, deeply trusting, and thoroughly woven into one another's lives.

Rain occasionally wonders whether they should define things more clearly, usually while staying at Bonnie's house, helping with the farm, and possessing enough personal belongings there to undermine her argument. Bonnie seems considerably less concerned. Rain moved to New Zealand chasing a fantasy and accidentally found something much better: a home, a bunnygirl, and a life she hadn't thought to imagine.
