Lanolin Aries

Lanolin Aries is a soft-spoken sheep girl with oversized glasses, a gentle demeanor, and considerably stronger opinions than people tend to expect from someone who spends so much time looking nervous. She's shy around strangers and rarely fights to be the loudest voice in a conversation, but once Lanolin has decided she's right about something, changing her mind can become an unexpectedly ambitious project.

Lanolin studied agricultural engineering, combining a lifelong familiarity with farming with a fascination for the machinery, infrastructure, and systems that make modern agriculture work. She's particularly interested in sustainable grazing, textile production, small-scale farm equipment, and the increasingly complicated question of how farms can remain productive without treating either the land or the people working it as disposable resources. Give her an opening and she can become surprisingly animated about pasture management.

Her long-term dream is to run a small wool farm of her own. Lanolin has already accumulated notebooks full of plans involving breeds, acreage, equipment, rotational grazing, buildings, and approximately seventeen different versions of a budget. Her mother is enthusiastically supportive, although she has gently suggested that Lanolin might eventually need to acquire some actual land before redesigning the shearing shed again.

Lanolin's closest social circle includes Mira Thistlewhisk and Lena Mossclaw, through whom she became close to Fawn Hartley. Fawn's quiet temperament made conversation unusually easy from the beginning, and their friendship gradually developed into something neither woman could plausibly continue describing as entirely platonic. Their first few dates happened before either admitted they were dates. Things have progressed since then, albeit at a pace that could generously be described as careful.

Neither is particularly interested in rushing it. There have been dinners, walks, exchanged flowers, increasingly intentional hand-holding, and occasional moments of physical affection that subsequently require both women to stare thoughtfully into the middle distance while their nervous systems reboot. Lanolin still gets flustered around Fawn. Fawn still gets flustered around Lanolin. This is no longer considered evidence that anything is going wrong.

Away from school and agricultural plans, Lanolin likes quiet cafés, farmers' markets, knitting, country drives, and low-key evenings with people she trusts. She's thoughtful, affectionate, and dependable, but underneath all that softness is a stubborn little core that becomes particularly obvious when someone mistakes shyness for uncertainty.

Lanolin may take a while to say what she wants.
