Overview

Step into the study of a mad scribe who has collected centuries and galaxies on scattered paper.
This LoRA captures the essence of Zibaldone – the Italian art of chaotic, mixed commonplace books – fused with medieval illuminations, Leonardo da Vinci‘s mirror‑written notebooks, Gutenberg‑era typographic prints, Egyptian papyri, and even alien scripts on crumbling parchment.

Now optimized exclusively for Flux: expect layered textures, ink smudges, gold leaf, cross‑outs, marginal doodles, and the haunting beauty of organized chaos.

Base Model

Flux (Schnell / Dev / Pro)

Trigger Words

Use one or more of these 12 triggers (single words or short phrases) to activate specific aspects of the style:

zibaldone style, scribal chaos, alien manuscript, da vinci notebook, medieval miniature, typographic print, papyrus fragment, palimpsest page, codex mixture, illuminated letter, mirror writing, grotesque marginalia

Recommendation: Start with zibaldone style and add 1–2 secondary triggers.

Why Flux + Zibaldone?

Flux excels at the materiality of aged paper, the micro‑texture of ink bleeding, and the atmospheric warmth of candlelit scriptoria. Perfect for Zibaldone’s layered, tactile universe.

Signature Style Elements

  1. The Zibaldone Core
Dense, messy, cross‑out, arrows, sticky notes (anachronistic but allowed), coffee rings, fingerprints.

  2. Medieval Miniatures & Illuminated Letters
Gold leaf, lapis lazuli blues, inhabited initials, marginal monsters (drôleries).

  3. Leonardo’s Notebook
Mirror‑writing, anatomical sketches, flying machines, water studies, reversed text.

  4. Typographic Print
Movable type, blackletter or Garamond, register marks, ink smears, printer’s devices.

  5. Papyrus Fragments
Hieroglyphs, demotic script, vignettes from the Book of the Dead, rolled edges.

  6. Alien Manuscripts
Unknown geometric glyphs, spiral scripts, symbols that look like cellular automata or constellations – all on aged paper.

  7. Palimpsest
Layers of erased and rewritten text from different eras, sometimes visible under UV (simulated).

Negative Prompt (Flux‑Compatible)

Flux responds well to minimal negative prompting. This concise version works effectively:

nsfw, low quality, worst quality, ugly, blurry, photograph, photorealistic, modern, plastic, sleek, minimalist, clean lines, digital font, sans serif, text, watermark, signature

Note: Excluding “sleek” and “digital font” helps preserve the handcrafted, analog feel.

Example Generations (Tested on Flux)

The Inventor’s Palimpsest
da vinci notebook, palimpsest page, a page with a drawing of a mechanical wing, partly erased, overwritten with mirror notes, plus a faded alien glyph in the corner, warm candlelight, high detail

Marginal Monster
medieval miniature, grotesque marginalia, a giant snail with a dog’s head fighting a knight, gold leaf initial, dense blackletter text, ink smudges, aged parchment

Egyptian‑Alien Hybrid
papyrus fragment, alien manuscript, a papyrus with hieroglyphs that gradually morph into unknown spiral symbols, a scarab beetle drawn next to a flying saucer sketch, coffee stain, torn edge

What This LoRA Excels At (With Flux)

Layered compositions – Overlapping texts, drawings, and ephemera
Aged materials – Parchment, papyrus, vellum, handmade paper, old cardboard
Historical scripts – Latin cursive, mirror writing, hieroglyphs, cuneiform, blackletter
Invented alien scripts – Believable non‑human writing systems
Marginal illustrations – Doodles, monsters, plants, faces, technical sketches
Palimpsests & erasures – Convincing partially removed layers
Mixed media – Ink, watercolor, gold leaf, charcoal, pencil, wax seal, tape
Atmospheric lighting – Candlelit scriptorium, golden hour, warm sepia

Limitations (Flux‑Specific Notes)

⚠️ Very dense text (more than 5–6 lines) may become unreadable – keep it fragmentary
⚠️ Extremely complex alien scripts may repeat symbols – use alien manuscript at moderate weight
⚠️ Pure photorealistic paper textures may look too clean – add scribal chaos for imperfections
⚠️ Flux Schnell users: reduce layers to 2–3 for best coherence
⚠️ Modern paper (bright white, smooth) is not well represented – use aged paper or parchment in prompt

Prompting Tips for Best Results with Flux

Do This:
[subject] on [material], with [script/drawing style], [imperfections like ink smudge or torn edge], [trigger words], warm aged tones

Good example:
a page with a medieval miniature of a unicorn, surrounded by da Vinci's mirror notes about anatomy, a small alien glyph in the margin, ink smudge, torn edge, zibaldone style, da vinci notebook, alien manuscript

Keywords that strengthen the style:

  • Materials: parchment, vellum, papyrus, handmade paper, aged paper

  • Imperfections: ink smudge, coffee ring, torn edge, wax seal, fingerprint, erasure

  • Scripts: cursive, mirror writing, hieroglyphs, blackletter, alien glyphs

  • Decorations: gold leaf, illuminated letter, marginalia, grotesque

Avoid:

  • Overloading with too many different script types (stick to 2–3)

  • Extremely short prompts (Flux needs context)

  • Modern materials: plastic, glossy, laser print

The Philosophy Behind Zibaldone and Scribes

“A zibaldone is not a diary, nor a finished work – it is the workshop of the mind, where everything is allowed to coexist: the sublime and the mundane, the ancient and the alien, the drawing and the erasure.”

This aesthetic celebrates:

  • The honesty of the sketch over the polished masterpiece

  • The curiosity of the polymath who collects everything

  • The beauty of time – stains, tears, fading ink

  • The dialogue between cultures (Egyptian, medieval, Renaissance, extraterrestrial)

  • The joy of scribbling in the margin

Credits & Notes

The Zibaldone tradition dates back to 14th‑century Tuscany, most famously embodied by Giacomo Leopardi‘s Zibaldone di pensieri. This LoRA extends that spirit to include Leonardo’s codices, medieval book arts, early printing, Egyptian papyri, and the extraterrestrial imagination – because a true zibaldone has no boundaries of time or space.

“Collect everything. Erase nothing. Let the margins breathe.”

This model is a tribute to scribes, illuminators, printers, papyrologists, and alien linguists – past, present, and future.
