Base Model

Krea 2

License:

Krea 2 is Krea's first foundation image model, trained from scratch with a focus on how images feel rather than just what they contain. It ships in two sizes - a Large build tuned for photorealism and a Medium build tuned for illustration and stylized art - and is designed around style transfer, moodboards, and a tunable creativity dial rather than prompt length alone.

Originally released by Krea and served via fal.ai. All credit for the model goes to the Krea team. Civitai is exposing the official Krea 2 API on-site so creators can generate with it directly - please head to krea.ai/image/k2 for the canonical product, the moodboards workflow, and to support the project directly.

Built by

  • Krea - foundation model training and product
  • fal.ai - official API partner powering on-site generation

Two variants, one model family

Large is the bigger build (roughly 2x the parameters of Medium) with softer post-training, which leaves more of the raw character of the base model intact. It is the right pick for photorealism of humans and animals, motion blur, film grain, low dynamic range, and the kind of imperfect lighting that makes an image read as a real photograph rather than a render.

Medium is smaller, faster, and cheaper, with heavier post-training applied. That post-training pushes it toward illustration, anime, painting, and other stylized aesthetics. Reach for Medium when you want clean line work or a defined art style; reach for Large when you want grit, lens flares, or chrome.

Aesthetic control, not just prompt control

Krea 2 is built around the idea that the prompt is only one input. You can attach style references with per-reference strength, combine them into a moodboard, and dial a creativity parameter across raw, low, medium, and high to control how far the model is allowed to drift from your inputs. The model is tuned to make compositional choices that serve the aesthetic rather than defaulting to the same safe layout every time.

What it is good at

Beyond general photoreal and illustration, Krea 2 has a noticeable edge on the hard stuff: lens flares, chrome and metallic surfaces, motion blur, glitter and iridescent textures, film grain, and starburst highlights. If you have been fighting another model to get any of those to land cleanly, Krea 2 is worth a pass.

On-site generation

Krea 2 is a closed-weights model. There are no weights to download here - this page exists so you can generate with the official Krea 2 API on Civitai without leaving the site. Images you create through the API can be used in commercial projects per Krea and fal.ai's terms of service.
