Zellij Reviews

I’m always on the lookout for patterns/tiling, so the Zellij LoRA caught my eye. It makes very interesting Moroccan mosaic style patterns as described by the author. I had quite a bit of fun simply making Zellij objects by adjusting the generation settings from the showcase images. Zellij is quite a strong LoRA, so mixing it with other LoRAs/TIs requires a bit of care. I tried adding in my CrystaliTIXL (https://civitai.com/models/139230/crystalitixl) and was very pleased to see the crystals re-arranged into Zellij patterns. Also tried my MarblingTIXL (https://civitai.com/models/154898?modelVersionId=173668) and, again, Zellij worked with the TI to create nice curving mosaics. Effect LoRAs such as SA_May’s Only Black (https://civitai.com/models/126450/only-black-sdxl) and Only White (https://civitai.com/models/123643) combined well. Some strangeness: the Zellij LoRA pushed many of my gens towards anime, even when I wasn’t using an anime checkpoint. LoRAs and TIs always push towards any aesthetic contained in the training set, but I was surprised to see such a strong effect. Arms/legs/wings etc were more often duped/missing than I’m used to with the checkpoints I was using... so sometimes I had to do a longer batch run to get better results. Perhaps one could mitigate that by use of “fixer” LoRAs and TIs, but for reviews I try to stick to just HiresFix and basic negative prompts. Overall: I’m keeping the Zellij LoRA around for future use :-) It’s very nice on its own, and fascinating when combined with other layers. Good stuff!
