Queen Esco, also known as Doctor Anna Flore or Professor Flore, is an antagonist in episode 41 of Tetsujin 28-gō (1980), titled “The Queen of Time”. She is a brilliant scientist specializing in time travel who, after mysteriously disappearing, becomes the queen of a past Inca empire. She travels to the present aboard a time machine shaped like a flying disc (inspired by ships from The War of the Worlds) and controls a swarm of bee-like robots to attack South American cities (such as Cusco) in order to alter her tragic fate. She knows that, according to history, she will be defeated by a giant (Tetsujin 28), and she fights desperately to change that ending. Despite her destructive methods, she shows an honorable side: she avoids killing civilians and, mortally wounded, accepts a final duel with Tetsujin on her own terms before sacrificing herself.
