Ichimegasa/市女笠

The ichime-gasa is a traditional sedge hat that noblewomen in Japan wore when going out from the late ancient period through the medieval era. Reflecting the social conventions and modesty expected of high-ranking women, a cloth veil known as mushi-no-tareginu was often suspended from the rim to conceal the wearer's face.
