Personal note : When I was a child, a teacher introduced me to the illustrations of Gustave Doré. I was fascinated by them; I found them both unsettling and wondrous.
I wanted to create a LoRA that mimicked his style—just for my own amusement. It was a dull endeavor; it proved impossible to even come close to the work of such an artist.
So, I decided to pivot toward something more modern and luminous, while still keeping Doré’s work in mind. I’m sharing this here, and I hope others will, in turn, amaze me with their own creations.
✦ NEONDORÉ — where engraving meets electric light
Imagine an old engraving coming alive under neon skies. NEONDORÉ brings together intricate lines, dramatic shadows and vivid light to create scenes that feel both timeless and entirely new.
Dream up vast cities, strange creatures, quiet encounters or impossible landscapes. Try cyan and magenta, sulfur yellow and violet, or spectral blue and incandescent orange — then let the light find its way through the details.
✦ The inspiration: Gustave Doré
Gustave Doré (1832–1883) was a French artist and illustrator whose dramatic visions brought works such as Dante’s Divine Comedy or a lot of fairy tales to life. His illustrations, translated into engravings by skilled craftspeople, are celebrated for their depth, fine detail and striking contrasts of light and shadow. NEONDORÉ takes that visual spirit into an imagined electric future.
