Behind the workflow of Mars CyberTruck AI Ad
Here’s a look behind the scenes of my workflow for this AI ad.
I wanted an automotive-focused project for the Odyssey 2 AI competition. Inspired by The Martian, I decided to set the project on Mars and chose the Cybertruck as the best fit for the environment.
To maintain consistency, I purchased a $5 Cybertruck 3D model and made minor tweaks like adding metallic rims and wider wheels. I developed the visual style through 3D renders and retextured them in MidJourney for a cohesive look.
For video creation, I used Kaiber and Runway, refining outputs repeatedly. Footage was upscaled to 4K with Topaz Video. For sound, MM-Audio added effects, and Eleven Labs generated voices with added emotion using script cues.
Editing was done in Premiere Pro and After Effects, with minimal post-production to emphasize AI-generated visuals. One lesson: always read the brief—I had to cut my 1:30 ad to fit the 1-minute limit.
For the ending, I used a Runway camera trick with smooth horizontal moves and zooms. The final ad combines storytelling and strong editing principles. Hopefully, these tips inspire your projects!
