Tarot cards revisit (2025)

I've sometimes played around with the idea of creating my own anime tarot deck, purely for the artistic possibilities. Here are the AI's renditions of The Magician, The Empress, The Sun, and The Moon.

Of course, a deck is more than just its most famous 22 cards. A proper project like this should cover all 78 cards (each of which has an assigned meaning, that lends itself to artistic purposes), so it's unlikely I'll ever have enough time for this to complete a full deck within a single generation of GenAI tech.

In The Magician, I first rendered her without the hat, but then decided she'd look nicer with one. Adding a hat at denoise 0.8 damaged the background, so I roughly combined the two renders (with and without the hat) in GIMP, and then inpainted the seam.
