I wanted to share my latest piece, "The Kingpin in the Crawlspace." The concept was to subvert the "prey" dynamic and imagine a mouse who doesn't just live in the walls, but rules them. He’s a sophisticated operator living a life of luxury and tactical planning, completely unfazed by the predator just inches away.

The Build & Technique

  • Time: 8 hours of dedicated work.

  • Process: This was heavily driven by inpainting. Rather than settling for a generic generation, I spent hours surgically refining the "underground" layers—from the quilted bed in the attic to the barrel-aged cellar in the basement.

  • The Challenge: The hardest part of the 8-hour process was nailing the scale of the textures. I had to ensure the heavy wood grain of the wall studs and the cat’s soft fur felt "massive" and realistic compared to the tiny, intricate furniture and micro-details inside the hideout.

The Narrative

I’m a big fan of environmental storytelling, so I packed the frame with details to reward those who look closer:

  • The Intelligence: A surveillance photo of the cat (labeled "JERK") pinned to the wall.

  • The Office: A logistics table featuring blueprints and a glass of scotch.

  • The Pharmacy: A cellar inventory including a bottle of "Melatonin for cat"—a subtle hint at how the kingpin keeps his territory quiet.
