Tried a new technique with this one where I generated the image without hi-res fix at all and with the LoRA strength turned down to just 0.4. Then, once I found a good gen, sent that to img2img and upscaled 1.6x at 0.6 denoise with the LoRA strength turned up to 0.9. This allowed a much more detailed background with no loss of character identity . . . well, after more than a few hours of inpainting and Clip Studio Paint work anyway!
