Celtic Knot dragon w/ and w/o refiner

The SDXL refiner seems to actually make images a lot worse for some types of images. In this example, I was hoping to enhance the detail on the celtic knot patterns in the wings. Instead, it completely lost them, lost detail in the rocky outcropping, colors are less vibrant, screwed up the tail, and the eye has moved back to an awkward position on the head.
