Lurien Dawnthreader, elven wizard

- 82 years old

- Has studied arcane magic for years, in a large magic school, and even was a professor there for 30 years.

- When he had his 80th birthday, wanderlust gripped him and he decided that he wanted to "try out something new", so he went on an indefinite sabbatical to become an adventurer instead.

- Is rather chatty, but easily loses himself in contemplation and "magic-babble" that no one understands.

- Loves loose wizard robes because no one realizes that he's going commando beneath

- Later on has a little teleporter accident with his best buddy Karanir, which earns him a minotaur tail (and a blossoming relationship with the bull-man)

Short Story - Off to New adventures

"What do you mean, 'I'm leaving'?!" the school administrator sputtered, almost dropping his teacup in shock. The aged human's eyes were wide in surprise as he looked at Lurien, the elven wizard, one of the longest-tenured professors at the magic college.

"Just what I said. Oh, don't worry - I'll finish the semester before I go on my sabbatical," the elf added in a friendly tone.

"But, but... you've been the lecturer on applied magics for thirty years!" the administrator almost wailed, scrambling at the thought of having to replace Lurien before the new year began.

"Exactly! Time for a change! Even if it's something you love, you can only do something for so long before it gets a bit stale. I want to do some fieldwork. See some places. Do some good out in the world. Maybe even get to use more than a few pages of my spellbook! You know, SOMEONE made a rule that I'm not allowed to cast meteor swarm on the school grounds," the blue-robed elf added, giving a little eye-roll at the last sentence. "You flatten ONE tool shed..."

Patting the white-haired human on the shoulder in consolation, Lurien smiled as he said, "I'll return before you know it. A few years, maybe a decade, tops. And there's sure to be some new and exciting spells waiting out there.'

(His decision made, Lurien set out some months later, seeking to experience the world for himself.)
