Cityscapes: Maps and Sketches Reviews
A magnificent LoRA that keeps on giving!
Firstly, it does what it says in the description: Baroque style maps with that sepia tone that bespeaks antiquity. If I were playing D&D style games or wanting fake-real maps for book/graphic novel illustration then Baroque Cartography style does the job. If you stick to prompts that describe real historical towns & cities it produces fascinating alternate-world versions.
Secondly, you can prompt for all sorts of city’ish environments such as spaceports, circuses and safari parks, and the LoRA will produce them in “believable” Baroque style. I spent a while just prompting for more and more bizarre locations, for the lolz.
Thirdly, the LoRA can produce scenes that are not obviously maps - more like in-game locations or concept artwork. I’ve posted some images to show this, but I’ve only scratched the surface in 1 day of playing with the LoRA.
Weight gradation is superb: from 0.1 through to 1.2 (at least) there is a smooth progression from near-photoreal ---> engraved Baroque map. For the type of prompts I’ve been using I can change the weight of the LoRA with confidence to get a particular effect.
I hope the author has time and inclination to produce more versions of Cityscape Maps... that I can distort into fantasy worlds 😁
