A beginner's guide to training a Flux Lora on Runpod

A beginner's guide to training a Flux Lora on Runpod

If you want something in depth, run away you fool !

This is a beginner zone fr >:)

So I'm a complete dumbass, and I lost half of my Buzz while trying to make a Lora of my own on Civitai.

To honour all of my fellow idiots who failed the process like I did, I decided to compile the easiest and most straightforward information you'll need to make a Flux Lora without any prior experience.

It really is simple when you find the right sources, it just takes a while.

Note that Runpod might load indefinitely if you have Avast or an antivirus running as it might block their API.

Making of the Dataset :

At this point, everyone and their mothers kinda know how making A Lora works. You take some images, you tag them, and that's pretty much all you need.

However, this post by @CrasH does provide some more information on how to make a good dataset for Flux.

Only take into account the Dataset part as there is updated info down below.

Caption and Training settings :

As written above, this is an update Crash made to the original post.

It goes into greater detail on what the best way to caption your images is, as well as some very solid training settings (which I used on my rebooted Bacun Lora).

I would argue that 3k steps might be better than 4k steps in most cases (as it overbakes the model), but hey, better safe than sorry.

Keep in mind that you can make some pretty solid stylized models with as low as 1k steps !

RunPod : Step by Step :

This video explains the entire process of making the LoRa for Flux. You only need to watch the first 20 minutes (which does include how to make it locally).

It was by far THE BEST material for me to figure things out with this.

Just be sure to link the right directories and training settings before you launch the training

(I failed multiple times because I forgot the "/" in "/workplace/[...]" and then didn't realise I had to manually save it before relaunching the training).

This is pretty much all the information you need to know to get started on your first Flux Lora.

I had to read through many more articles and watch many more videos to figure things out, however, this is a beginner guide, so I wanted to only keep whatever is essential.

If it works out for you as it did for me, make sure to thank the authors of the various sources I linked :)
